The Leavenworth Fisheries Complex comprises three hatcheries located in Leavenworth, Winthrop, and Entiat, Washington. The hatcheries and associated facilities were constructed by Reclamation from 1939 to 1941 as mitigation for the construction of Grand Coulee Dam.
The IPID diversion fish screen was replaced based on current design criteria and fish protection requirements accepted by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Marine Fisheries Service.
The signature conservation project being developed at the hatchery is a water reuse system called Partial Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (pRAS).
COIC has continuously diverted water from Icicle Creek at river mile 4.5 through a shared diversion with the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery (LNFH) since 1940.
The project consisted of installation of new fish screening and raw-water delivery infrastructure for the City of Leavenworth’s municipal water intake made necessary by construction of the step-pool passage channel and improving passage above the Boulder Field.
Trout Unlimited’s Icicle Creek Fish Passage Improvement Project is a successfully implemented salmonid passage project in Lower Icicle Creek.
Fromm property was identified as a high priority for riparian restoration through Chelan County’s 2017 Riparian Prioritization Report funded by WA Department of Ecology.
